Equipment
Ingredients
- a Portion Size of Decarbed Ground Cannabis Flower Toss-In per Potency Preference
- 1 Cup Coconut Oil
Instructions
- Use our Primary Staples Infusion Potency Calculator to determine how many grams of Cannabis Flower you want to use.
- Weigh and measure the amount of Cannabis Flower you intend to use for this recipe on the digital kitchen scale.
- Do not grind the flower. Break the flower buds to kernel sized pieces.
- Place a clean dish towel at the bottom of your crockpot.
- Add water to the crockpot or slow cooker to about half way.
- Pour oil in mason jars. Betsy Bot likes to put a half cup of oil in pint size mason jars.
- Add measured flower to the oil in the mason jars.
- Place the lids on the mason jars and tighten jars to "finger tight". You don't want water getting into your butter flower mixture. Do not screw on the lids too tight either.
- Carefully add the jars to the water bath. Watch for any bubbles that float to the surface as this will indicate one of the lids is not on tight enough. If that happens, remove the jar immediately to tighten the lid.
- Bring the water temperature to about 180℉. You have a range of about 160℉ to 200℉. The sweet spot is about 180℉.
- Place the lid on your slow cooker or crock pot and allow flower to steep in oil for four hours. Continue to maintain a consistent water temperature with either a cooking thermometer or digital temperature controls if your crock pot allows for that feature.
- After four hours, remove the jars from the water bath with tongs.
- Allow oil jars to cool enough for handling.
- Once cool enough to work with, strain the oil into a clean jar, bowl or spout measuring cup.
- To strain, you can use cheesecloth, a coffee filter or a French press.
- Once strained, add the oil to clean mason jars for storage. Betsy Bot recommends using wide mouth jars for easy dosing with Teaspoons or Tablespoons later. If you live in an area that is not tropical, chances are, your coconut oil will solidify while in storage.
- Store in a cool, dark place until ready to use.
