Equipment

  • Small saucepan with lid
  • Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Glass jar or spray bottle (sterilized)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh organic rose petals (preferably Rosa damascena or Rosa centifolia)
  • -OR-
  • Β½ cup dried rose petals (culinary grade)
  • 1Β½ cups distilled water

Instructions

  • Place rose petals in a small saucepan and pour in the distilled water. Water should just cover the petals.
  • Cover with a lid and simmer on the lowest heat for 20 minutes. Avoid boiling β€” you want a gentle infusion.
  • When petals lose color (they’ll turn pale), remove from heat.
  • Let cool with the lid on.
  • Strain out the petals and pour rosewater into a sterilized glass jar or bottle.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1–2 weeks.

Betsy's Infusion Notes:

🌹 Use only roses that are pesticide-free and unsprayed.
πŸ›’ Grocery store roses often contain chemicals.
