¼tspground turmeric(optional for anti-inflammatory benefits)
¼tspground cardamom(optional for extra flavor)
¼tspground black pepper(to enhance turmeric absorption)
½tspvanilla extract(optional for added flavor)
1pinchsea salt
Instructions
Prepare the Ginger Milk
In a small saucepan, combine almond milk (or milk of choice) and grated ginger. Heat over medium-low heat, whisking occasionally to prevent the milk from scalding.
Add the ground cinnamon, ground turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper (if using). Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse into the milk.
Add Kava Root Powder
After the milk has simmered, remove from heat. Add the kava root powder to the milk mixture. Whisk thoroughly to dissolve the powder. If using kava extract, add it to the milk after removing from heat and stir well.
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any solid particles from the kava root powder.
Sweeten & Flavor
Stir in honey (or your preferred sweetener), vanilla extract (optional), and a pinch of sea salt to enhance the flavor.
Serve
Pour the latte into cups, garnish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon or cardamom on top (optional), and enjoy while warm.
Betsy's Infusion Notes:
🍃 Kava Root: Make sure to use kava root powder that is intended for consumption, as some forms of kava may be used for external purposes only. Kava extract can be used as an alternative if you prefer a more potent version of the drink.🫚 Ginger: Fresh ginger provides a much stronger flavor compared to powdered ginger. You can adjust the amount of fresh ginger based on your taste preferences.🍂 Turmeric and Cardamom: These are optional ingredients that enhance the anti-inflammatory effects of the drink, but feel free to omit them if you want a simpler flavor profile.🍃 Kava Dosage: Kava root can have strong sedative effects, so it is important to start with small doses if you're unfamiliar with how it affects your body. Adjust based on your individual needs.🍯 Sweeteners: Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your liking, using honey, maple syrup, or any other preferred sweetener.🫗 Straining: Straining the drink after the kava is mixed in is important to avoid any grainy texture or lumps from the kava powder.🌿 Benefits: This Spiced Kava Root & Ginger Latte helps promote relaxation and provides relief from neuropathic pain, muscle spasms, and stress.
