Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 6 Applications
This Coffee Body Scrub is a great way to treat your skin to an exfoliating and hydrating experience, leaving it soft, smooth, and rejuvenated. The natural properties of coffee, coconut oil, and honey work together to refresh your skin and boost circulation, all while enjoying the soothing scents of the scrub.
🤎 Terpenes & Flavor Profiles: The coffee grounds have a rich, earthy aroma, which can be invigorating and energizing. Coconut oil contributes a mild, tropical fragrance, while honey adds a sweet, natural note. The optional essential oils bring further complexity: peppermint for a cool and refreshing scent, lavender for a calming, floral touch, or cinnamon for a spicy warmth.
🤎 Bodily System Help: This scrub is especially beneficial for skin health. The coffee grounds stimulate blood circulation, which may help with cellulite reduction and improve overall skin tone. Coconut oil provides moisture and nourishment to the skin, leaving it soft and hydrated, while honey helps to lock in that moisture. The scrub works well to exfoliate dead skin cells, making it ideal for dry or dull skin. This scrub also has mild antioxidant properties, thanks to the coffee.
🤎 Number of Servings: This recipe makes about 4-6 uses depending on how much you apply per use. About 2 Tablespoons per use.

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or Spatula for mixing
  • Airtight Storage Container or Jar for storage

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Ground Coffee (preferably organic and finely ground for exfoliation)
  • ½ Cup Sugar (brown sugar for a soft exfoliating effect, or white sugar for a more abrasive scrub)
  • ½ Cup Coconut Oil (or your preferred carrier oil like sweet almond or olive oil for moisture)
  • ¼ Cup Honey (for hydration and skin-softening properties)
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract (for a pleasant aroma, optional)
  • 10 drops Essential Oil (optional, use 5-10 depending on oil strength. e.g., cinnamon, peppermint, or lavender for added fragrance and benefits)

Instructions

🤎 Prepare Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup of ground coffee.
  • Make sure the coffee is finely ground to avoid any rough, large particles.
  • Add 1/2 cup of sugar to the coffee grounds.
  • Brown sugar is gentler on the skin, while white sugar provides a stronger exfoliation.

🤎 Add Wet Ingredients

  • Pour in 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Melt the coconut oil if it's in solid form, and stir until the mixture reaches a smooth consistency.
  • Coconut oil is known for its hydrating and soothing properties.
  • Add 1/4 cup of honey, which is not only a natural humectant but also helps soften and smooth the skin.
  • Stir everything together until fully combined.

🤎 Flavor and Scent Enhancements (Optional):

  • For a richer scent, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Alternatively, you can add 5-10 drops of essential oils such as peppermint for a refreshing feeling, lavender for relaxation, or cinnamon for a warm, comforting aroma.

🤎 Mix Well

  • Stir all ingredients until the scrub is evenly distributed and smooth.
  • The texture should be moist but not too runny.

🤎 Store & Use

  • Transfer the scrub into an airtight container or jar for storage.
  • You can store the coffee scrub in the bathroom or in a cool, dry place for up to 2-3 weeks
  • In the shower or bath, take a small amount of the scrub and gently rub it onto damp skin, using circular motions to exfoliate. Focus on areas prone to dryness, such as elbows, knees, and feet.
  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Be careful, as the oil may make surfaces slippery.

Betsy's Infusion Notes:

🤎 Customizing the Scrub: You can experiment with different essential oils depending on your preference. For example, orange oil adds a citrusy zest, or eucalyptus oil can be invigorating and refreshing.
🤎 Coconut Oil Substitute: If you’re sensitive to coconut oil, you can swap it out with sweet almond oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil, all of which are beneficial for the skin.
🤎 Storage Tips: Ensure the scrub is stored in an airtight container to avoid it drying out. Keep it in a cool, dry place, and avoid introducing water to the jar to preserve the product’s shelf life.
🤎 Optional Add-Ins: If you want a bit more exfoliation, you can add sea salt or brown sugar for a more intense scrub.
