Terpenes & Flavor Profiles: The lavender essential oil offers floral, calming, and soothing aromas, thanks to the terpenes linalool (which has a sweet, floral scent) and camphor (which adds a herbal note). The peppermint essential oil provides a fresh, cool, and invigorating aroma, with the dominant terpene menthol giving it a crisp, minty fragrance that helps awaken and refresh the senses.
Bodily System Help: This scrub is primarily designed for the dermal system, as it exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, and leaves it smooth, hydrated, and refreshed. The Lavender has calming properties, while the peppermint provides an energizing effect. Together, these ingredients offer both physical and mental relaxation, promoting overall skin health.
Number of Servings: This recipe makes approximately 1 cup of scrub, which can provide 5-7 uses, depending on how generously it is applied.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or Spatula
  • Airtight jar or container (for storage)
  • Measuring Spoons and cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Epsom Salt🧂 (exfoliates and softens skin)
  • ½ cup Coconut Oil🥥 (moisturizes and nourishes)
  • ¼ cup Olive Oil🫒 (hydrates and soothes)
  • 2 TBS Lavender essential oil🪻 (relaxes and calms the skin)
  • 1 TBS Peppermint essential oil🍃 (refreshes and revitalizes)
  • ¼ cups Dried Lavender buds🪻 (optional for added texture and fragrance)
  • ¼ cups Fresh mint leaves🍃 (optional for a fresh herbal touch)

Instructions

Prepare the Oils🥥🫒

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the coconut oil and olive oil. Stir gently to blend.

      Add the Salt🧂

      • Gradually add Epsom salts to the oils, stirring until evenly mixed. The mixture should resemble a coarse paste but still be slightly moist.

      Infuse the Scents🪻🍃

      • Add lavender essential oil and peppermint essential oil to the mixture. Stir until the essential oils are fully incorporated. The scent should be strong yet balanced, with the calming notes of lavender and the invigorating touch of mint.

      Add Optional Ingredients

      • If using, add dried lavender buds and fresh mint leaves to the scrub for texture and extra fragrance. The dried lavender gives a lovely visual appeal, while the mint leaves provide an extra refreshing note when you use the scrub.

      Stir & Adjust Consistency🥣

      • Check the consistency of the scrub. If it's too dry, add more coconut or olive oil until it reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency. If it's too wet, add more Epsom salt.

      Store🫙

      • Transfer the scrub into an airtight jar or container. Store in a cool, dry place.

      Usage

      • To use, gently massage the scrub into damp skin in circular motions. Focus on areas with rough patches (elbows, feet, knees). Rinse with warm water. The scrub will exfoliate dead skin cells, leaving your skin soft and refreshed.

      Betsy's Infusion Notes:

Consistency: The scrub should have a thick, grainy texture.
Storage: Keep in an airtight container to prevent moisture from getting in. Use withing 2-3 months for optimal freshness.
Essential Oils: Be mindful of the quantity used, especially if you have sensitive skin. Always do a patch test before full application.
Customization: Feel free to adjust the amount of lavender and peppermint oils based on personal preference. You can also experiment with other oils such as tea tree oil for an additional refreshing effect or sandalwood for a grounding scent.
This lavender and mint body scrub is a perfect blend of exfoliation and soothing relief for the skin. Enjoy the relaxing benefits while leaving your skin soft and hydrated!
